Lead Teacher Day
August 25th, 2009 by mrstetupu
So today has been action-packed and filled with useful bits of information.
We started off today looking at peer coaching which reminded me of the cool schools mediation programme. It’s a way of teachers working on improving their practice in a non-threatening way. Basically you choose someone you respect and trust to talk through areas you want to improve on personally. They come in and observe you teaching but don’t give judgements or advice – just the facts. It was actually quite tricky to not give advice…. until I read the help sheet Belinda had given us!
Next up was presentation zen. This session was quite cool and it would have been good to have had more time with this one. It was looking at powerful ways to give presentations. We really only took a look at the overall approach – not the specifics.
In the afternoon and after a yummy lunch (thanks mummy Karen) we had Fiona Grant come in and talk to us about digistore – it looks like there’s lots of upgrades coming up and at the moment it’s a bit tricky to navigate around. Oh I did fall across something cool though – free online Te Reo Maori course!!! Woo hoo!!!!

Thanks for the feedback. I did wonder if I should do a longer session on Presentation Zen but decided against it. Perhaps next time ….
